Our team

Our trademark specialists and operations team

Eight named people handle every application at Secure Mark USA, working from our Hempstead, New York office. Here is how the team is organized and what each person does.

Who we are, and what we are not

Secure Mark USA is a full-service trademark filing agency offering trademark registration services to businesses across the United States. Our team is made up of trademark analysts, filing specialists and case consultants who guide business owners through the USPTO submission process. We are not a law firm, none of our team members are licensed attorneys, and we do not provide legal advice or legal representation. If your matter needs an attorney, such as a dispute, an opposition or litigation, we will tell you so plainly.

Executive leadership

Austin Phillip

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Role focus: Strategic operations, client intake management and first brand consultations.

As the founder of Secure Mark USA, Austin oversees the company’s core operations from our Hempstead, New York office. He works directly with new clients during the first consultation to set out pricing, explain each processing step and make onboarding straightforward for business owners.

Case analysis & USPTO Office Action specialists

Barry Hughes

USPTO Office Action & Revival Specialist

Role focus: Office Action responses, revival of abandoned applications and examiner objections.

Barry focuses on the procedural issues the USPTO raises after an application is examined. He works from the Trademark Manual of Examining Procedure (TMEP) to help clients prepare clear responses, bring applications back from abandoned or suspended status, and keep filings moving toward registration.

Daniel Roy

Senior Case Analyst

Role focus: Structural evaluations, register cross-checks and application accuracy audits.

Daniel carries out a structural evaluation of every incoming trademark request. He reviews the class selection, checks word and design marks against existing USPTO records, and confirms the documents are complete and accurate before anything is filed.

Rick Barnes

Senior Case Analyst

Role focus: Compliance checks, specimen review and quality control.

Rick works with the filing team on case data and quality control. He checks that each goods and services description matches USPTO requirements and that specimens fit what is being claimed, which cuts down the risk of avoidable delays.

Account management & client support

Scott Harper

Dedicated Account Manager & Filing Specialist

Role focus: Direct client contact, clearance search guidance and end-to-end filing coordination.

Scott is a dedicated point of contact for business owners. He manages each account from the first comprehensive clearance search through to the final application submission, so clients have one person to ask at every step.

Chris Taylor

Client Relationship Specialist

Role focus: Client communication, milestone tracking and process walkthroughs.

Chris keeps communication clear and quick. He helps businesses track their applications and breaks the multi-step federal registration process into milestones that are easy to follow.

Charles Henry

Client Support Representative

Role focus: Status monitoring, update notifications and post-filing questions.

Charles monitors the status of active filings in the USPTO’s records. He sends clients routine updates, answers day-to-day questions and keeps owners informed of where their application stands.

Ian Miller

Operational Support & Filing Queue Coordinator

Role focus: Workflow administration, docket management and filing queue coordination.

Ian manages the back-office queues and docketing system. He makes sure prepared paperwork moves through the internal workflow on schedule so it is filed electronically with the USPTO on time.
